Jennifer Markanich, was born and raised in a small historic town in Bucks County Pennsylvania. Growing up around varied styles of architecture and antiques began to develop her eye and appreciation for design. Moving to Tennessee in the 1980’s she found herself fully embracing the hospitality and beauty of the south. Jennifer’s designs are inspired by all she encounters, including her travels throughout the United States and Europe.

Prior to pursuing her education and professional practice as an interior designer, Jennifer was a registered nurse, hospital department head and owner of a highly successful pediatric home health care business. She expanded the business to five states before selling it to a national chain.

That background provided her with skills from which her design clients benefit today; an attention to detail, managing time frames, logistics, budget restraints, and project management.

By getting to know how my clients live and want to live, I design spaces that result in functionality, beauty, and enjoyed living. I follow a formula of getting the geometry of each space right, then move on to style and finishes. Selections are paired down to what makes sense aesthetically and work within the budget.

Designing the interiors of new homes and remodeling existing ones, Jennifer specializes in creating custom kitchens and baths. She creates spaces that reflect her clients’ lifestyle, and as she says, “just makes life more pleasant”. In addition to other design awards, Jennifer was a recipient of the coveted SubZero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest for 2010 – 2012 as one of “The Best of the Best” in their international design contest. Additionally, her work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Traditional Home, and Greater Nashville House and Home.

Jennifer works with a team of the region’s leading architects, contractors, floor and tile installers, painters, upholsterers, window covering specialists, furniture and cabinet makers, metal workers, art dealers, and other craftspeople. With access to worldwide sources for fabrics, furniture, lighting, art, and decorative items, she possesses all the tools to provide stunning interiors.

She is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers, the nation’s largest and longest-established organization of design professionals, where she served on the Tennessee State Board. She is also active in the National Kitchen & Bath Association and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. Involvement in these organizations provides exposure to cutting edge technology and product development that benefit her clients.

Jennifer launched her design business after working with McAlpine, Booth & Ferrier Interiors in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from O’More College of Design in Franklin, Tennessee. She continues to serve on the school’s program advisory board. Jennifer is involved in ongoing philanthropic work with the Union Mission in Nashville to provide interiors that encourage and give hope to the people benefiting from their services.
